Subject: Verizon vs. AT&T vs. T-Mobile compared: How to pick the
best 5G carrier for you
By Morgan Sanders
5G in the US just got a big shakeup. Here's how to choose the best
carrier now. Graphic by Pixabay/Illustration by CNET
The coronavirus pandemic may be pumping the brakes on phone sales, but
5G development is still speeding along. Despite an onslaught of
conspiracy theories that have resulted in physical damage to 5G
towers, the major US carriers - Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile - continue
to add new 5G phones and expand their networks. One carrier, however,
is conspicuously absent. Sprint is now out of the running, with the
Big Four becoming the Big Three now that T-Mobile has closed its
mega-merger and is bringing Sprint customers into the fold. Sprint's
original 5G network is getting shut down, with T-Mobile relaunching it
to work better with its existing 5G networks. While that spells
stronger future performance, it also means 2019 Sprint 5G devices will
lose their 5G access.

You Can't Clasp That: Judge Schofield Finds No Infringement Under
Doctrine of Equivalents Due To Prosecution History Estoppel
By Lewis Popovski & George Soussou
On July 16, 2020, United States District Court Judge Lorna
G. Schofield granted summary judgment of non-infringement for
Defendant Verizon Services Corp ("Verizon"). Pro se plaintiff Chikezie
Ottah ("Ottah") sued Verizon for patent infringement, alleging that
Verizon's Jotto Desk Universal Laptop Mount ("the Accused Product")
infringed U.S. Patent No. 7,152,840 ("the '840 patent").

Subject: FTC changes access to Do Not Call (DNC) Reported Calls Data
Hi Everyone,
I have a call blocking program like most of the others. Mine is a
little different because in addition to blocking unwanted calls, it
also files Unlawful Call Center (UCC) complaints, and Federal Trade
Commision (FTC) complaints. The FTC complaints are filed using Chrome
Browser, Python, Selenium and WebDriver.
The reported call data is available at
https://www.ftc.gov/site-information/open-government/data-sets/do-not-call-data.
The data can be downloaded and used to block calls that evade local
detection. The FTC used to provide a CSV file on a daily basis. It is
now available through a web API that requires a key.
It appears the FTC has placed barriers to impede the dissemination of
the information.

***** Moderator's Note *****
The FTC web site directs visitors to an application page in order to
obtain an API key. I had to give my name and email address, and the
key arrived in a few minutes. However, queries done using the example
given by the FTC consistently returned "403 Forbidden Request
forbidden by administrative rules".
If you know how to access the FTC API, please help the rest of us.

Yup, it does look exactly like the original: a wall of text with no
picture of any kind and not even any paragraph breaks. (Firefox 61.0.1
on Linux, if that helps any.)
