BY JARED NEWMAN For years, Comcast and other cable companies have leaned on a simple strategy to offset the effects of cord-cutting: Charge a steep price on home internet service, and enjoy soaring profits thanks to little or no competition. That strategy may now be in jeopardy. Comcast's internet subscriber growth was essentially flat last quarter, while Charter lost 21,000 Spectrum internet subscribers. For both companies, it's the first time they've failed to grow their home internet businesses in a given quarter. https://www.fastcompany.com/90782532/comcast-and-charter-face-a-grim-new-reality-actual-competition -- (Please remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly)

The new facility, expected to open in 2024, will add about 250 jobs to Corning's payroll. Corning said the Gilbert site is part of a $500 million expansion plan for optical fiber and cable manufacturing that started in 2020, nearly doubling the company's capacity. Optical communications has been one of Corning's fastest-growing businesses. In the June quarter, optical sales grew 22% from the year-ago quarter to $1.3 billion, about 36% of the specialty glass company's total sales in the period. https://www.barrons.com/articles/corning-fiber-optic-plant-arizona-51661818036 ****************** Moderator's Note ****************** Turn off Javascript to avoid the paywall.

The lawsuit alleges that Kochava violated Section 5(a) of the FTC Act, which bans unfair or deceptive practices that affect commerce. According to the suit, acts are unfair under Section 5 if they cause or are likely to cause substantial injury to consumers that consumers can't reasonably avoid themselves and if the injury is not outweighed by countervailing benefits to consumers or competition. https://tinyurl.com/yc4spvp7 -- (Please remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly)
