Subject: Fiber line cut puts land line and internet service out in
southern Albemarle County
CHARLOTTESVILLE (WINA) - Service has been restored to thousands of
Verizon and CenturyLink customers have been without land line phone
and internet service for about 24 hours. Albemarle Fire and Rescue did
not say how, but a fiber line was severed late Tuesday morning
immediately cutting those services from both providers. CenturyLink
expected repair and restoration to take 24 hours, and sure enough it
was restored shortly after 11am.

Subject: NY State Senators Pressure Verizon to Fix Highway Dead Zone
This week, New York Senators James Skoufis and David Carlucci
announced the construction of two Verizon Wireless towers to fix
dangerous dead zones on the Palisades Parkway, according to the
Rockland Report. Both towers are expected to be completed this summer
and anticipated to be fully active by the end of 2020.
Carlucci said, "Dead-zones like this stretch of highway are extremely
dangerous. EMS has told us, in some cases, accidents cannot be
reported until 15 to 20 minutes later. If first responders are delayed
to an accident scene, then lives can be lost."
