Deal
Nation's largest wireless carrier told FCC it would keep backing subsidized
Lifeline service for three years
By Drew Fitzgerald
Verizon Communications Inc. told federal regulators it would keep
supporting low-cost wireless service for three years if it is allowed
to buy TracFone, a sign of deepening negotiations in the carrier's
effort to control a giant in prepaid cellphone plans.
"We're very comfortable to make that commitment to &elip; continued
participation in Lifeline for the next three years in any geography
where TracFone provides Lifeline services today," Ronan Dunne,
Verizon's chief of consumer services, said in an interview
Thursday. The carrier will also provide ultrafast fifth-generation, or
5G, service to Lifeline customers within six months of the deal's
closing, he added.

Subject: Verizon agrees to halt 5G pole installation in Dewey Beach
By Ellen Driscoll
Verizon's installation of 5G utility poles in Dewey Beach has
been halted due to a temporary restraining order issued by the Court
of Chancery July 1.
The order issued by Vice Chancellor Sam Glasscock III in response to a
class-action lawsuit filed June 21 by Dewey Beach residents Alex
Pires, Diane Cooley and John Snow stated that Verizon and the
plaintiffs agreed on conditions of the proposed restraining order to
avoid the need for court intervention.

Does this do much good?

"Does it do much good?" That's a good question. The STIR/SHAKEN name
of this miracle cure is an obvious reference to Ian Fleming's mythical
superspy James Bond, who ordered his martinis "Shaken and not
stirred," and for that reason I suspect that the Friendly Candy
Company knows it's only a theoretical solution that either doesn't
work at all, or which can be easily bypassed.
Time will tell.
