Subject: CWA Member Speaks Out During Roundtable Discussion with
Vice President Harris
On Monday, Mapbox worker Jenn Chow joined Vice President Kamala Harris
and Labor Secretary Marty Walsh for a roundtable discussion as part of
the Biden administration's Task Force on Worker Organizing and
Empowerment. Last week, a supermajority of workers at Mapbox announced
that they had formed the Mapbox Workers Union with CWA Local
9410. Chow highlighted the challenges workers in the U.S. face when
they join together to form a union and advocate for change at their

Subject: IBM gets serious with Verizon and Telefónica
By Pádraig Belton
There is a courting game afoot between telcos looking for more
exciting software tools and Big Tech firms looking for their slice of
the 5G pie. And the matchmaking just got more intense with IBM forming
partnerships with both Verizon in the US and Telef=C3=83=C2=B3nica in
Europe. Playing both sides, as it were. But it also goes both ways.

Subject: The Coronavirus Pandemic and Network Neutrality
Implications
By Amy Robinson, Jim Waldo
The coronavirus pandemic has served as the biggest stress test for the
internet to date. The performance of regional networks degraded
significantly, especially regarding upload speeds, during a time when
an online connection was a true lifeline. But would the 2015 network
neutrality regulations have made a difference in consumer experience
during the pandemic? Would net neutrality have provided faster
neighborhood internet speeds or more consistent pricing? This post
examines instances of pricing changes, throttling and traffic
prioritization during the coronavirus crisis to answer these questions
and zooms out to the larger internet ecosystem beyond just internet
service providers (ISP).
