Re: Any details about the Verizon outage in Raleigh (David Clayton)

There is a sumptuous variety about the New England weather that compels the stranger's admiration — and regret. The weather is always doing something there; always attending strictly to business; always getting up new designs and trying them on people to see how they will go. But it gets through more business in spring than in any other season. In the spring I have counted one hundred and thirty-six different kinds of weather inside of twenty-four hours.

Subject: Revenue Expectations for 600 MHz Auction Take Hit as Sprint Bows Out Message-ID: <ee6ce2b5-ec4f-4733-ac4c-ebeb1b2746bd@googlegroups.com> By Ben Munson, CED, 09/28/2015 Revenue expectations for 2016's 600 MHz broadcast incentive auctions may have taken a hit over the weekend as Sprint opted out. Sprint announced in a statement that it would not participate in the auction because its current spectrum holdings, largely concentrated in the 2.5 GHz band, are "sufficient." "Sprint's focus and overarching imperative must be on improving its network and market position in the immediate term so we can remain a powerful force in fostering competition, consumer benefits and innovation in the wireless broadband world," Sprint CEO Marcelo Claure said in a statement. "Sprint has the spectrum it needs to deploy its network architecture of the future." http://www.cedmagazine.com/news/2015/09/revenue-expectations-600-mhz-auction-take-hit-sprint-bows-out?et_cid=4843421&et_rid=652835436&type=headline -or- http://tinyurl.com/SprintBowsOut Neal McLain

Question: In these days of mega-paranoia about protecting "critical" infrastructure then surely marking out buried fibre cables essentially paints a big , fat target on them saying "Come and get me"? Much easier to cripple telecoms with a couple of stolen diggers than blow up a building. -- Regards, David. David Clayton Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
