Subject: US Justice Department, AT&T settlement talks failed: Court
filing
The U.S. Department of Justice and AT&T have held unsuccessful
settlement talks over the wireless and pay-TV company's bid to buy
movie and TV show maker Time Warner, the two sides said in a court
filing on Friday.
The Justice Department has sued to stop AT&T, owner of DirecTV and the
No. 2 U.S. wireless company, from buying Time Warner for $85 billion
because of concerns that it could raise prices for rivals and pay-TV
subscribers and hamper the development of online video.

Subject: Hackers could impersonate AT&T Wi-Fi to attack your phone
HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Public Wi-Fi is available almost everywhere you
go. But if you're not careful, some smartphones could automatically
connect to a hacker's hotspot, without the user even knowing.
Barbara Jones doesn't leave home without her phone. Like many
smartphone users, she never turned off her Wi-Fi either.

Subject: AT&T pink-slips 700 DirecTV installers
by Daniel Frankel
With AT&T's CEO having just proclaimed the addition of 7,000 new jobs
tied to Republican-led corporate tax breaks and the Christmas holiday
just days away, the company has confirmed the layoffs of some 700
DirecTV installers.
The cuts, first reported on by the New York Post, affect regions
across DirecTV's national footprint.
