Subject: Fake Online Locksmiths May Be Out to Pick Your Pocket, Too
Odds are good that when you search Google for someone to help you get
into your home or car, results will include poorly trained
subcontractors who will squeeze you for cash.
by David Segal
Maybe this has happened to you.
Locked out of your car or home, you pull out your phone and type
"locksmith" into Google. Up pops a list of names, the most promising
of which appear beneath the paid ads, in space reserved for local
service companies.
You might assume that the search engine's algorithm has instantly
sifted through the possibilities and presented those that are near you
and that have earned good customer reviews. Some listings will
certainly fit that description. But odds are good that your results
include locksmiths that are not locksmiths at all.

Subject: Hate your cable company? Superfast, wireless Internet is
coming (telecom)
By Ben Fox Rubin, CNET, January 27, 2016
A startup called Starry thinks so and intends to take the place of your cable
or phone company.
The New York- and Boston-based startup, created by the folks who tried to
shake up the television industry with the now-defunct Aereo, hopes to create
fresh competition for major cable and telecommunications players that sell
Internet. Starry plans to launch a wireless broadband service called Starry
Internet at a lower price than current providers. The company plans to roll it
out in Boston this summer and spread to more cities throughout the year. The
eventual goal is to go nationwide.

By Diana Goovaerts, CED, Thu, 01/28/2016
Nearly two-thirds of U.S. broadband households subscribe to at least one
over-the-top (OTT) video service, according to a new report from Parks
Associates.
According to the report, a flurry of new service launches in 2015 helped raise
the portion of American households with OTT video services to more than 60
percent. Additionally, two-thirds of broadband households were found to own a
connected entertainment device and more than a quarter of households own a
