Inside the Opposition to a Net Neutrality Repeal
By Cecilia Kang
Fight for the Future, a scrappy 10-person nonprofit, has helped lead
the uproar against changes to internet rules, including hundreds of
protests on Thursday.
WORCESTER, Mass. - Hundreds of protests were staged across the
country on Thursday in the latest uproar over a repeal of rules
ensuring an open internet. The drumbeat of action can in good part be
traced back to a yellow Victorian house in this leafy New England
city.
The home is the nerve center for Fight for the Future, a scrappy
10-person nonprofit that has helped lead the opposition to the change
- even if its effort to protect so-called net neutrality has the
longest of odds.

Subject: FCC Must Investigate Fraud Before Voting On Net Neutrality
By Jessica Rosenworcel
When Netflix debuted the second season of Stranger Things on October
27, more than 15 million people watched the first episode in the
following three days. But the strangest thing about Stranger Things?
Its early audience was bigger than some of this year's World Series
games.
Today, we have an explosion of online video and countless other
services because the internet is open to all. Anyone can use digital
tools to create and distribute their work online. Despite the wild
benefits of this openness, Washington is ready to unravel it.

Subject: Thousands Braved The Cold Outside Verizon Stores Yesterday
By Janet Burns
Around the country yesterday, supporters of net neutrality rules took
to the streets--specifically, those areas around Verizon stores--to
re-emphasize the fact that voters from across the political spectrum
want the rules kept intact for major financial, privacy, and free
speech reasons.
Ahead of the Federal Communication Commission's (FCC) expected vote to
ditch the Obama-era policies next Thursday, then (Dec. 14, 2017),
thousands of Americans of all stripes turned out in the cold to spread
the word, which the FCC has tried to suppress, while they still can.

Subject: AT&T's courtroom conundrum: How to avoid paying an extra
$500 million to Time Warner
By Brian Fung
On March 19, AT&T and the Justice Department are expected to head to
court to decide the future of Time Warner in what could be a historic
legal showdown over a massive $85 billion merger.
The timing of the trial could put AT&T in an uncomfortable position as
it seeks to buy up one of the world's most valuable media and
entertainment conglomerates, known for popular TV channels such as CNN
and hit film franchises like the "Harry Potter" series. AT&T has been
racing to get its deal with Time Warner closed by April 22, which
would allow it to avoid having to pay Time Warner $500 million in
recognition of its "time and expenses" spent on the process.

Subject: Mom-to-be was so angry at AT&T, she called to complain
while having her baby
By Dave Leiber and Marina Trahan Martinez
I am preparing my monthly report of complaints that The Watchdog sends
to AT&T CEO/President/Chairman/Big Kahuna Randall Stephenson. But
there was one emergency complaint that could not wait. I sent it to
AT&T immediately upon receipt.
What was it? A photograph of a woman in the hospital about to have a
baby, calling AT&T for the umpteenth time to get her bill fixed.
