Subject: Verizon's Visible, a Prepaid Service, is Just Livin' in the
Now, Man
Since you probably already forgot that it existed, I wanted to talk a
little bit today about Verizon's new prepaid service called
Visible. No, it's not available on Android or to the general public
yet, but it's been unveiled in such artificially vague,
eye-roll-worthy terms that we need to try and talk through the entire
situation.

from the ill-communication dept
Ma bell isn't much fun at parties. While traditional telcos
desperately want to pivot from broadband and cable to video and online
advertising, that transition has been challenging. Especially for a
sector that has spent the last 30 years as government-pampered
regional mono/duopolies. Many of these companies are good at running a
network or lobbying government to stifle competition, but they're
simply not very good at things like creativity, innovation, or
disruption. That was recently made abundantly clear by Verizon's face
plant after it tried to launch a sexy new Millennial-focused video
platform dubbed Go90.

Subject: Why I Fired AT&T
by Steven Rosenbaum
The AT&T - iPhone affair
It's hard to break up with a longtime partner. Yes, they make it hard,
but it's also about a feeling of familiarity, consistency - and,
honestly, commitment.
I was with AT&T for 11 years.
