History is instructive. And what it suggests to people is that even if they do little things, if they walk on the picket line, if they join a vigil, if they write a letter to their local newspaper. Anything they do, however small, becomes part of a much, much larger sort of flow of energy. And when enough people do enough things, however small they are, then change takes place. |

The case, Lee v. Verizon, stems from a 2012 pension buyout, which moved $7.5 billion in pension liabilities, or about a quarter of all the communication giant’s obligations, to Prudential Insurance Co. http://www.benefitspro.com/2015/08/21/5th-circuit-confirms-verizon-de-risking-did-not-vi -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly) |

Subject: Verizon customer can still get two-year contracts Message-ID: <mrcq6t$bvg$1@dont-email.me> 2-Year Contracts: Verizon Customers Can Still Get Them On Latest iPhones, Samsung Galaxy And Other Smartphones By James Geddes, Tech Times | August 23, 9:25 AM Earlier this month, Verizon announced that it would no longer be offering 2-year contracts to subscribers. Existing customers, however, can still receive a 2-year contract on a new iPhone, Samsung Galaxy or other smartphone. When Verizon joined its industry rivals recently and announced it was ending 2-year contracts, many customers registered reactions from disbelief to disappointment to downright panic. They wondered how they were going to get the latest iPhone or Galaxy Note 5; worried they would now have to pay full price for the new phones upfront, even though many of them didn't have that kind of expense planned in their budget. Verizon has the largest base of contract customers of all the top carriers, and many are still confused about their current options. http://www.techtimes.com/articles/78679/20150823/2-year-contracts-verizon-customers-can-still-get-them-on-latest-iphones-samsung-galaxy-and-other-smartphones.htm -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly) |

Subject: Southern New Jersey residents want fairness from Verizon Message-ID: <mrcqge$d2u$1@dont-email.me> South Jersey wants fairness from Verizon (Letters to the Editor, South Jersey Times) Every elected official, every business owner, every farmer and every voter I've talked to desperately wants Verizon to provide our area with technology that will give South Jersey a reasonable opportunity to participate in the 21st century economy. In response to our concerns about deteriorating or non-existent service, Verizon denounces us, seeking to make us look ridiculous by stating that we are not capable of understanding modern technology. http://www.nj.com/opinion/index.ssf/2015/08/sj_letters_823.html -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly) |
