Subject: Analyst: Cable MVNOs to steal 50% of all wireless customer
additions by 2020
by Mike Dano
Charter, the nation's third largest cable operator, is widely expected
to launch its Spectrum Mobile MVNO in the coming weeks. And that
effort likely will result in some serious challenges to the nation's
wireless network operators in the coming years.
"Wireless executives had been dismissive of cable's foray into
wireless, and the economics of the MVNO model in an unlimited world;
however, following Comcast's early success (Comcast added more phone
customers than Verizon and AT&T in 2017), we think the companies, and
investors, are more sensitive to this risk," wrote the Wall Street
analysts at Morgan Stanley Research in a note to investors this
morning.

Gamification is the secret to telematics success: Fleet200 industry
speaker Verizon Connect
Gamification is really important in engaging drivers and making
telematics a success, according to Anthony O'Halloran, client partner
EMEA at Verizon Connect.
"It's about empowering the driver to take responsibility for their own
actions so we give them the tools to do that," he said.
"The point is to make it a fun environment for them where there is
some competitiveness but at the same time they're learning."

James slams union targets Charter and Verizon, but misstates role in franchise
dispute
By Will Bredderman
The leading candidate for the state's top prosecutorial post made her
case to union members at a hearing this week with an attack on two
cable and Internet giants.
Public Advocate Letitia James tore into Verizon and Charter
Communications, which operates in the five boroughs as Spectrum,
at a hearing of the City Council's Subcommittee on Zoning and
Franchises. She testified despite having no vote on the matter -
but her appearance made sense given that both firms have had labor
difficulties in recent years, and James is running in the Democratic
primary to replace former state Attorney General Eric Schneiderman.
