Verizon Data Breach Report 2021: Pandemic Has Caused Major Surge in
Phishing, Ransomware and Web App Attacks
By Scott Ikeda
Verizon's data breach report for 2021 frames the degree to which the
pandemic has influenced cyber criminal activity, with the focus
shifting strongly toward work-at-home infrastructure. 39% of all data
breaches in 2020 stemmed from web application compromise, and both
phishing and ransomware incidents jumped significantly from 2019. One
thing has not changed, however - human negligence continues to be the
leading cause of security breaches.

Subject: NEWS9 Special Assignment: Where's the Wi-Fi?
The foundation of modern life has changed over the past year, with
many people working from home and students attending school virtually.
But the pandemic has also highlighted a divide between Ohio Valley
communities when it comes to high-speed broadband internet access.
"I have two kids who are not going to go back to school this year due
to the circumstances, and I don't have internet to give them," Hancock
County parent Casey Beckett said.

***** Moderator's Note *****
Since I have a Verizon cellular phone, I guess I qualify for this
offer: I don't shill for Verizontal, Ghod knows, but sauce for the
goose, etc.
The article also has a URL for a comparison between some other
services, and some explanations of the various offerings that
Sling "Orange" has and the different ones for Sling "Blue."
