Subject: CenturyLink to pay back $8.9M to Minnesota customers
By Stephen Montemayor
CenturyLink, the nation's third-largest telecom company, has
agreed to pay $8.9 million to tens of thousands of customers in
Minnesota who were allegedly overcharged, state Attorney General
Keith Ellison announced Wednesday.
The settlement also requires the company to reform its billing
practices by disclosing its true prices, honoring all promised
prices and discounts, and banning what officials deemed "sham
internet fees." Under the terms of the agreement, CenturyLink
also is required to submit audits to the Attorney General's
Office for the next three years.

Interesting, but darkroom work has always been a factor in pho-
tography. Sometimes it's just simple cropping, other times it's
rearranging a photo to appear that people are together whey they
weren't.
The other night PBS aired a documentary of Sen McCarthy. There was
a doctored photo alleging that some politician was visiting with a
crook, but that was false.
A point of trivia, "Photoshop" is a brand name for a software
product, although it has taken on general usage like the word
Xerox for photocopying.

service amid broader internet outages
By Paul Roberts
A cut fiber optic cable was being blamed for one of a series of
internet outages Friday that briefly interrupted 911 services in Gig
Harbor and created internet problems in parts of the Seattle area,
Portland, southern Idaho, and at least a dozen other regions across
the United States, according to news reports and CenturyLink, whose
customers were affected.
