Subject: AT&T inks Amarillo fiber deal as it chases more public-
private partnerships
By Diana Goovaerts - Jun 29, 2022
AT&T is now planning to reach more than 60,000 locations across three
states with fiber via public-private partnership arrangements with
municipalities, striking its latest deal with the city of Amarillo in
Texas. Jeff Luong, AT&T's president of Broadband Access and Adoption,
told Fierce it's pursuing many more similar deals both within and
outside of its existing footprint.
The $24 million project in Amarillo will cover approximately 22,000
locations with XGS-PON fiber. The start of engineering work is
contingent on the city's final approval of its portion of funding for
the build.

Subject: Eastman drops bid to block phone records from Jan. 6
committee
The former Trump lawyer is increasingly the subject of legal scrutiny.
By Kyle Cheney
John Eastman, an architect of Donald Trumps last-ditch bid to subvert
the 2020 election, has dropped a lawsuit aimed at blocking the Jan. 6
select committee from obtaining his phone records.
In a late Tuesday filing, Eastman voluntarily dismissed the suit,
claiming that hed been assured the committee was only seeking his call
logs not the content of any messages held by his carrier, Verizon. The
select committee has long contended that it lacks the authority to
obtain message content.
