Limelight, a cloud-based content delivery network (CDN) platform
provider is reportedly negotiating a deal to be purchased by Verizon
(NYSE: VZ).
Dan Rayburn, principal analyst with Frost & Sullivan and EVP of
StreamingMedia.com, wrote in a blog entry that rumors of a potential
sale emerged during the annual Content Delivery Summit that was held
in New York City last week where various attendees discussed how
Limelight Networks "is in talks to try and sell the company to Verizon
and is desperate to make a deal."

(Reuters) - Verizon Communications Inc has hired advisers to prepare a
possible $100 billion bid to take full control of Verizon Wireless
from its partner Vodafone Group Plc, two people familiar with the
matter said.
Verizon is contemplating a roughly 50:50 cash and stock bid for the 45
percent stake in Verizon Wireless it does not already own, an asset it
has long coveted, the sources said. It has not put a proposal to
Vodafone yet but has hired banking and legal advisers for a possible
offer, the sources said late Wednesday.

AT&T must be run by magicians. The company is turning a mere 61 cent
monthly fee into hundreds of millions of dollars.
But instead of delighting an enchanted audience, AT&T has mostly
angered its customers with its new "Mobility Administrative Fee,"
which went into effect for all monthly cellphone contracts on May 1.
The company has more than 107 million wireless subscribers, so the
new fee stands to bring in $775 million each year. OK?

CenturyLink plans to lay off 51 workers from its Hood River call
center on Wasco Street, according to a Tuesday (May 14) filing with
the state department of Community Colleges and Workforce Development.
Under the federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN)
Act, companies with more than 100 full-time employees are required to
provide official notice 60 days before the date on which they plan to
lay off more than 50 workers.

LightSquared filed for bankruptcy last year after federal regulators
blocked approval to build its network due to concerns it would
interfere with global-positioning systems.
Charlie Ergen, chairman of satellite-TV provider Dish Network
Corp. has made a $2 billion bid for the spectrum owned by LightSquared
Inc., the bankrupt wireless-broadband company owned by Philip
Falcone's hedge-fund firm.
Ergen, 60, has offered to buy the spectrum even though the FCC has yet
to approve its use, according to the people, who asked not to be named
because the deal hasn't been shown to the bankruptcy judge, Bloomberg
News reported.

Subject: Looking for GSM prepaid provider

I have a cheap Tracfone. It works pretty well, but before I reload it
with another $100 (which will last for most of a year), I'm wondering
what my options are.
I'm willing to buy an unlocked GSM Android phone like a Nexus 4 if I
can find a carrier that will do prepaid or month to month on it.
T-Mobile claims they have coverage here, but they are wrong (I know
where the towers are) so that means the carrier has to be AT&T or an
AT&T MVNO.
I don't expect to have a whole lot of usage since I'm mostly at home
where the wifi is cheap and plentiful, but it's nice to have something
that will work when I'm out shopping or on trips.
Any suggestions? I suppose if there is some sort of hybrid phone that
will work on Verizon CDMA and foreign GSM, or there's unlocked Verizon
LTE phones with a SIM, that might be possible, but I haven't seen
the former at a plausible price or the latter at all.

(Reuters) - Shares in satellite firm Inmarsat rose on expectations
that Dish Network Corp's bid for the spectrum assets of its
U.S. partner LightSquared may lead to a resumption of payments to the
British company under an airwaves-sharing deal.
Dish has offered $2 billion to LightSquared, which was backed by
Philip Falcone's hedge fund Harbinger Capital Partners, for its
spectrum assets, a source said earlier on Tuesday.
