With a $1,000 Price Tag, Apple's iPhone Crosses a Threshold
SAN FRANCISCO - When Apple unveils its new top-of-the-line iPhone on
Tuesday, it isn't just expected to offer features like infrared facial
recognition and wireless charging for the first time.
The company will also enter new territory on price: The latest phone
will start at about $1,000, compared with the $769 minimum for its
current top phone, the iPhone 7 Plus.

Subject: RoboCaller now Showing Legitimate Numbers in CallerID
Starting about two weeks ago, some of the robo calls I receive are
showing real, working numbers. As a routine matter, I submit these
calls to nomorobo.com and they block any further calls from that
number for people who have subscribed to nomorobo. Unfortunately,
those working legitimate numbers are now blocked for anybody
subscribing to nomorobo.
I'm not sure of the significance of this new practice by the scammers.
***** Moderator's Note *****
I've seen that too: the numbers are always from radio station call-in
lines.

landline customers
The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission approved an order on
Aug. 31 allowing Verizon to discontinue saturation deliveries of
yellow pages and business white pages phone books. The regulatory
commission eased the requirements on the distribution of residential
phone books in 2010.

Subject: bunnie Huang and Ed Snowden describe a malware-resistant
hardware Iphone privacy overlay
In an engineering paper, bunnie Huang and Ed Snowden describe a
malware-resistant hardware Iphone privacy overlay
In July 2016, Andrew "bunnie" Huang and Edward Snowden presented their
research on journalist-friendly mobile surveillance resistance at the
first MIT Media Lab Forbidden Research conference; a little over a
year later, they have published an extensive scholarly paper laying
out the problems of detecting and interdicting malware in a mobile
device, and presenting a gorgeously engineered hardware overlay that
can be installed in an Iphone to physically monitor the networking
components and report on their activity via a screen on a slim
external case.
Huang is a legendary hardware engineer -- his 2017 book, "The Hardware
Hacker" is absolutely the best book on the subject you will
find. Snowden, of course, is the world's leading public authority on
the surveillance capabilities and tactics of governments. Together,
they are an unbeatable team.
