Consumers Union said the technology exists to stop these calls before they reach people's homes, but that phone companies have resisted providing the tools. The phone carrier trade association has said blocking all robocalls would exceed the phone companies' legal authority. But Consumers Union has been arguing that giving consumers the option is well within the boundaries. full article at: http://www.cbsnews.com/news/how-telemarketers-get-around-the-do-not-call-list/ CBS has an article, "five things to know about robocalls" http://www.cbsnews.com/news/5-things-to-know-about-robocalls/ |

Subject: Federal court refuses to block net neutrality rules Message-ID: <bc6c9fe9-75fb-40a8-8aad-559482cf2950@googlegroups.com> By Brian Fung, Washington Post, June 11, 2015 A federal court has decided not to block the government's new net neutrality rules from going into effect, handing Internet providers, such as Verizon and Comcast, another defeat in an ongoing legal fight with the Federal Communications Commission. The decision clears the way for the FCC to enforce its ban on the slowing and blocking of Web traffic, even as it seeks to fend off a legal attack against the regulations. Despite the setback, industry officials and their allies vowed Thursday to forge ahead with an attempt to overturn the rules in court. "I plan to fight the Order all the way to the Supreme Court," said Daniel Berninger, founder of the Voice Communication Exchange. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/the-switch/wp/2015/06/11/a-federal-court-just-refused-to-block-the-fccs-net-neutrality-rules-from-taking-effect/ -or- http://tinyurl.com/naa4zvu Neal McLain |
