With talks for a wide-ranging carriage renewal deal with AT&T bogging
down, CBS Corp. executives are wondering if the wireless giant plans
to keep its U-verse pay-TV operation in business after its $49 billion
merger with DirecTV finally closes.
The Wall Street Journal quotes unnamed CBS executives as saying that
AT&T appears "disinterested" in renewing a carriage agreement that
expires June 30.

Verizon says CWA's allegations aimed at pressuring in advance of contract talks

Verizon Communications Inc.'s largest union says the company is refusing
to fix broken landlines.
The Communications Workers of America, which represents about 35,000
Verizon employees, says Verizon isn't repairing copper lines in some
areas in the Northeast. Instead, the union says, the carrier is steering
customers to buy a wireless home phone service called Voice Link.
The CWA plans to file public information requests this week with a
handful of state regulators including in New York, New Jersey and
Pennsylvania to see whether it can uncover data showing the extent of
the problems. Verizon is required to report information about service
issues to local regulators, but the union says not all of that
information is likely being disclosed to the public.

AT&T: Cut fiber causing service interruption in Kerrville (Texas) area
resolved
UPDATE: AT&T reports technicians have worked to resolve the issue and
the service is currently running normally.
KENS 5 received several reports from concerned residents in the
Kerrville and Fredericksburg areas Monday evening that they were
experiencing issues with AT&T service.

TYSONS CORNER, VA June 9, 2015 - CenturyLink has enlisted LGS
Innovations to help upgrade the Defense Department's high-speed fiber
optic network that connects five Pentagon facilities with supercomputing
requirements.
CenturyLink said Monday it expects updates to DREN to enable the five
computer labs to receive speeds of up to 40 gigabits per second.
Tim Meehan, senior vice president and general manager at CenturyLink
Government, reiterated the company's commitment as prime contractor to
provide DoD engineers, scientists and researchers the support they need
through the project, which he said should help "accelerate the
development and deployment of next-generation networking technologies
that are critical to America's national security."

AOL CEO Tim Armstrong on Tuesday responded to reports that the future
of his company's content brands - including the Huffington Post - are
in limbo following its announced merger with Verizon, saying they were
always part of the deal.
AOL's advertising unit has outpaced revenue growth among its content
brands, fueling speculation that the company's ad technology platform
was at the heart of Verizon's bid.
