Subject: Why is AT&T trying to buy Time Warner?
By Eric Johnson
By next week, closing arguments will take place to see if one of the
biggest media mergers in history will go through. More than two years
ago, AT&T approached Time Warner about an $85 billion deal to buy its
channels, which include CNN, HBO and TNT.
But the Justice Department sued to block the deal, and the case will
wrap up over the next month or so.

Subject: AT&T-DOJ Closing Arguments Cheat Sheet for Monday
Six weeks in Judge Richard Leon's courtroom flew by, and closing
arguments in the DOJ suit to block AT&T's purchase of Time Warner
start Monday. If you haven't been following along, here's what you
need to know for Monday's big event.
by Chris Nolter
After weeks of testimony in a landmark antitrust case, AT&T, Time
Warner and the Department of Justice have one last chance to sway
Judge Richard Leon when they present closing arguments on Monday.
Justice argues that AT&T will use Time Warner's content to harm rivals
to its DirecTV satellite television service. The government says the
telecom will use the threat of blackouts to coerce companies such as
Dish Network Corp. (DISH) or Charter Communications (CHTR - Get
Report) to pay higher rates, which will force cable bills to rise
$571 million in 2021.

Subject: Why were protesters outside AT&T's annual meeting?
Hundreds of AT&T workers rallied for higher wages and protested the
outsourcing of jobs outside the telecommunications giant's annual
shareholders meeting today at Moody Performance Hall in downtown
Dallas.
The rally was organized by the Communication Workers of America, which
represents more than 150,000 AT&T technicians, customer service and
call center representatives and retail store employees. About 14,000
workers across five Midwest states are negotiating their contracts
with AT&T. Hundreds of AT&T workers rallied for higher wages and
