Subject: OR-PUC Approves CenturyLink/Qwest Merger Message-ID: <583732.31201.qm@web31107.mail.mud.yahoo.com> And now finally, today Thursday 24-March-2011, the Oregon Public Utilities Commission has also approved the pending CenturyLink purchase of Qwest (legacy US-West RBOC, what was once the three BOCs Mountain Bell, Pacific Northwest Bell, and Northwestern Bell). The OR-PUC board is a 3-member board, but the chairman's position is presently vacant. Both of the current board members voted to approve of the merger, with various conditions. The FCC announced its approval of the merger a week ago, on Friday 18-March-2011, following a process of several months of approvals from numerous state regulatory agencies, as well as approvals from other federal agencies (SEC, FTC/DOJ/IRS), and approvals from the shareholders of both CenturyLink and Qwest. Thus, this OR-PUC approval was the final approval needed for the pending CenturyLink/Qwest merger (CenturyLink takeover of Qwest). Both companies intend for the merger/takeover to be completed and effective, a week later, on Friday 01-April-2011. This merger/takeover was announced by both Qwest and CenturyLink almost a year ago, on Thursday 22-April-2010. NOW, it will be interesting to see the regulatory approval process regarding AT&T's (at&t-mobility) takeover of T-Mobile from Deutsche Telekom, which was announced last Sunday 20-March-2011. Mark J. http://www.tmonews.com/2011/03/will-t-mobile-customers-will-have-to-replace-phones-after-merger-completes/ (From the website) We touched on this in the wrap-up of this mornings AT&T Press call but apparently it's causing such a stir we're going to try and clarify a few things: With AT&T planning to use T-Mobile's existing 1700 MHz spectrum for future LTE rollouts, AT&T execs are saying that T-Mobile customers will have to replace their current 3G/4G phones once the merger is completed. This will be a mandatory upgrade unless of course you want your phone to work on edge only.

By yvonneeskenzi March 21, 2011 I've been doing PR for the IT security industry for 16 years and there has never been such a major breach to an IT security vendor, as the one to hit RSA on Friday. And rarely has a PR disaster been dealt with so badly. From where I'm sitting, resellers, distributors, customers as well as bloggers, tweeters and journalists are running around speculating about what's happened and panicking about what to do - with no clear advice or guidance from RSA's internal or external experts. It's almost like they've battened down the hatches, stuck their heads under their duvets and hoped this whole nasty incident would shut-up and go away, so that they could start the week afresh as though nothing had happened. ...

Well, as a blacksmith, I think of things of the same size but made entirely of cast iron as "rather heavy". This toy/project of mine:
http://home.tallships.ca/mspencer/shop/deutz-alldays.html is "very heavy". :-) But I take your point. > If you do post it for sale, could you let us know where it was > posted? Thanks. Yes, will do, unless the owner tears off in all directions and disposes of it without further consultations with me. Unlikely. And I'll have a look to see if, based on *** Moderator's *** criteria, I can determine which model it is and post results here. -- Mike Spencer Nova Scotia, Canada

Subject: SLC-fed DSLAM's Message-ID: <iminvm$gbu$1@reader1.panix.com> Keywords: SLC DLC DSLAM Summary: Seeking specific examples I'm still searching for specific examples of DSLAM's in non-CO locations. Specifically, a DSLAM in/at a SLC cabinet or other digital remote. I am asking because Verizontal is insisting that such isn't possible, oh no; or at least they don't know how to do it because they've never seen one like that.... I have multiple anecdotes of such, but such is no help. I need specific examples of locations with customers known to have DSL service where they are fed from a SLC. It's far better if Verizontal territory, but it may help even if it is BellSouth or such. With such an example or 3; my friends' negotiating position with their lawyers might improve. -- A host is a host from coast to coast.................wb8foz@nrk.com & no one will talk to a host that's close........[v].(301) 56-LINUX Unless the host (that isn't close).........................pob 1433 is busy, hung or dead....................................20915-1433
