Key words: "Older generation." I think one of the goals of the
advertisers is to create a generation gap (remember that term?) -- to
make older adults feel left out. "Ha, ha, you silly policemen didn't
recognize our cartoon character making an offensive gesture ..."

Another factor may be that if you make an offensive gesture at people
in Boston, you get more of a response than in other cities.
