<p>This is a listing of (mostly technical) book reviews. The review filename
is followed by the name of the book and author(s) and a very brief description.
(Some versions of this file may also contain listings of software reviews.)

<p>Authors and publishers wishing to have books included should see the
<a href="#shipaddr">address information</a> at the end of the file. For those
wishing to use the file as a database, the <a href="#entrfrmt">structure</a> is
described at the end of the file. Information on <a href="#arcsites">Internet
archive sites</a> for the reviews is generally given in the sigblock at the end
of the file. This file is accessible as a Web page with full review links at
<a href="http://www.freenet.victoria.bc.ca/techrev/review.html"> Victoria
TeleCommunity Net</a>. (The file is very large, but can be searched online
with your browser's search function. For Lynx this is the "/" command.) Also
under contruction are the new
<a href="http://www.freenet.victoria.bc.ca/techrev/mnbk.html"> topical
menus</a> (which will likely load faster).

<p>The index file is now in very simple HTML format. Preformat tags enclose
the document: these can be removed for formatting of the text. Paragraph tags
begin each entry. Tagging is minimized for legibility as a text document.

<p>(The book review project is looking for sponsorship. Please contact

Publishers or authors wishing to have their books reviewed and added to the
list should have copies sent to Rob Slade at 3118 Baird Road, North Vancouver,
BC, Canada, V7K 2G6. Publishers shipping from outside of Canada are advised to
label the materials as samples per GST section 215(1), without value and not
subject to GST.

<p><a name="entrfrmt">Format of the listings</a><br>
The entry begins with an HTML paragraph start tag and the MS-DOS/CP/M 8.3
format (ffffffff.xxx) filename. (The filename may begin with "bk" for book,
"cs" for cassette, "vd" for video, or "am", "at", "mc", or "pc", for computer
software.) "The name of the book/product is contained within double quotes,
and may contain commas or other punctuation." (The filename and title are
enclosed in an HTML anchor tag.) There are at least three comma delimited
fields following the title, author name[/nth author], date, and ISBN. If these
items are not known, empty fields are delimited by commas. One further field
is optional: the price of the book. A short annotation of the work is set off
by " - " ([space][hyphen][space]). If an entry goes to more than one line,
additional lines are indented by whitespace. Entries for software list only
the filename with a title and description.
