Besozzi On April 27, 2022, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) unanimously approved a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) (and an Advanced Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (ANPRM)) to make adjustments to the agency's Telemarketing Sales Rule at 16 C.F.R. Part 310 (TSR). Among other things, the TSR "requires telemarketers to make specific disclosures of material information; prohibits misrepresentations; sets limits on the times telemarketers may call consumers; prohibits calls to a consumer who has asked not to be called again; and sets payment restrictions for the sale of certain goods and services" https://www.mondaq.com/unitedstates/advertising-marketing-branding/1189172/federal-trade-commission-proposes-adjustments-to-telemarketing-sales-rule-including-b2b-telemarketing-calls?email_access=on -- (Please remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly)

Silverman and E. Barlow Keener For the first time in decades, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is auctioning highly valuable 2.5 GHz mid-band spectrum. The 2.5 GHz spectrum being auctioned is the same 2.5 GHz spectrum bands that T-Mobile uses to deliver its highly successful 5G service. The 2.5 GHz mid-band spectrum can support faster speeds and greater capacity than low-band spectrum and can penetrate walls and provide more coverage than high-band spectrum like CBRS and C-Band. https://www.mondaq.com/unitedstates/telecoms-mobile-cable-communications/1189508/historic-spectrum-auction-coming-this-summer-applications-to-bid-due-by-may-10-webinar-available?email_access=on -- (Please remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly)

Notably, as part of that acquisition, T-Mobile also acquired Sprint's wireline business, once a go-to service for many enterprises. https://www.mondaq.com/unitedstates/telecoms-mobile-cable-communications/1189186/the-demise-of-legacy-sprint-wireline-services-?email_access=on -- (Please remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly)

Here's how to take it for a free test drive. By Ry Crist If you're fed up with your high cable bill, your slow DSL speeds or any other of the lackluster internet options in your area, maybe you've considered skipping the wires and getting your home online with a fixed wireless cellular connection. Connections like that are nothing new, but this year, Verizon and T-Mobile are each promising better availability and faster 5G speeds, and they're each stepping up their efforts to win customers over with high-profile ad blitzes and tempting promotions for switching over. Now, in the case of T-Mobile, you can try the company's home internet service out for free for up to 15 days. https://www.cnet.com/home/internet/heres-how-to-try-out-t-mobile-home-internet-for-free/ -- (Please remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly)

Single-line users will see up to a $6 a month increase, and people with family plans could have up to $12 a month added to their bills, according to Bloomberg. In a statement to The Verge, AT&T spokesperson Seth Bloom said, "we are encouraging our customers to explore our newer plans which offer many additional features, more flexibility for each line on their account and, in many cases, a lower monthly cost." AT&T also said that affected customers started finding out this week and that the price changes will go into effect starting June 1st. https://www.theverge.com/2022/5/3/23055583/att-price-increase-unlimited-mobile-share-plans-newer-options

A location data firm is selling information related to visits to clinics that provide abortions including Planned Parenthood facilities, showing where groups of people visiting the locations came from, how long they stayed there, and where they then went afterwards, according to sets of the data purchased by Motherboard. The data sale is obviously more important in the context of a leaked Supreme Court draft opinion in which Justice Alito indicated that the court is ready to repeal the decision in Roe v. Wade, the decades-old precedent that has provided federal protections to those seeking an abortion. If that draft does become a formal decision, it would immediately fully or partly ban abortion rights in at least 13 states. https://www.vice.com/en/article/m7vzjb/location-data-abortion-clinics-safegraph-planned-parenthood

The bill would have allowed law enforcement to ticket anyone caught with a cell phone in hand while driving. https://press-herald.com/ban-on-hand-held-driver-phones-fails-after-heated-debate/ -- (Please remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly)
