The company informed customers that it would no longer offer "Data Free TV" on its video apps beginning March 25, according to a copy of the customer notice obtained by CNBC. That means customers must be connected to WiFi to avoid having their streaming count toward their total data caps. The change will extend beyond California, since, AT&T said, "the Internet does not recognize state borders." https://www.cnbc.com/2021/03/17/att-will-count-hbo-max-toward-data-caps-blames-net-neutrality-law.html

In reducing this benefit it was stated it was being done to manage AT&T's investments in "new benefits," only available to active employees. https://www.journalinquirer.com/opinion/letters_to_the_editor/letter-to-the-editor-at-t-is-failing-when-it-comes-to-its-retirees/article_5e1275a4-87fb-11eb-9cc4-0b550c3b0610.html
