She said safety protocols require Comcast to get clearance from electrical utilities before making repairs. https://www.oregonlive.com/silicon-forest/2021/02/comcast-says-125000-oregon-customers-still-without-internet-mostly-because-of-power-outages.html ------------------------------ Message-ID: <20210221183207.9C2EC744@telecom2018.csail.mit.edu> Date: Sun, 21 Feb 2021 18:32:07 +0000 (UTC) From: Moderator <telecomdigestsubmissions@remove-this.telecom-digest.org> Subject: I pre-ordered Starlink, and now we wait By Alex Hernandez I signed up for the Starlink order notification a few weeks ago and tonight, the email dropped in my lap. I wrote about Starlink back in October; it was actually the first I heard of the program. When we moved from Chicago to Des Moines, our internet service didn't change much. I was still able to get Gigabit service in Urbandale, where my office was located. But late last year, my wife and I decided to move further out into a rural area. We left the Des Moines area altogether, opting for a slightly warmer climate in southern Missouri. Now, I have to say; I LOVE the new area we live in. After 44-years of city and suburban life, rural life is wonderful except for one thing, internet service. https://techaeris.com/2021/02/19/i-pre-ordered-starlink-and-now-we-wait/ ------------------------------ Message-ID: <4C3AA6DB-0C8A-4A0A-B7D3-8D4D6A50E718@roscom.com> Date: 20 Feb 2021 16:04:30 -0500 From: "Monty Solomon" <monty@roscom.com> Subject: School board members bash pandemic-weary parents as potheads who ‘want their babysitters back’ School board members bash pandemic-weary parents as potheads who ‘want their babysitters back’ The accidental “hot mic” moment on Wednesday night laid bare the heightened tensions between elected officials who are under growing pressure to reopen schools and parents who have now spent nearly a year juggling work and child care. California is one of the last states in the country where most students have not set foot in a classroom since March, according to Politico, and disputes between politicians, teachers' unions and parents have grown increasingly rancorous. https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2021/02/19/oakley-union-parents-babysitters/ ------------------------------ Message-ID: <5ADD7051-DEC1-4B05-ADDB-6C7C501CF3A3@roscom.com> Date: 21 Feb 2021 11:03:24 -0500 From: "Monty Solomon" <monty@roscom.com> Subject: Is the Group Chat Sacred?
