Now carriers are reporting surges in calls as we seek more personal connections while following social distancing guidelines. Not everyone you call needs or should have your phone number. The choice is up to you. https://foxwilmington.com/headlines/5-ways-to-block-or-hide-your-number-when-making-calls/ ------------------------------ Message-ID: <aaa108bf-0143-194b-9a77-da04057201a9@gmail.com> Date: 30 May 2020 13:11:55 -0400 From: Bill Horne <telecomdigestsubmissions@remove-this.telecom-digest.org> Subject: Is work-from-home really the wave of the future? Is work-from-home really the wave of the future? A look at the pros, cons by Jason Gold and Alec Stapp WASHINGTON, D.C. Zillow CEO Rich Barton recently tweeted that he was giving all employees the option to work from home for the rest of 2020. My personal opinions about WFH (work from home) have been turned upside down over the past 2 months. I expect this will have a lasting influence on the future of work - and home. Barton's epiphany about working from home - echoed by other U.S. business leaders - may mark a decisive shift toward pervasive telework in the post-pandemic economy. Before COVID-19 appeared, just five percent of the U.S. workforce worked remotely full-time. Now, thanks to America's extensive digital infrastructure, two-thirds of employees are working from home. https://www.wraltechwire.com/2020/05/30/is-work-from-home-really-the-wave-of-the-future-a-look-at-the-pros-cons/ ------------------------------ Message-ID: <0afba8d6-75cb-ace0-edae-3ee395163713@gmail.com> Date: 30 May 2020 13:03:33 -0400 From: Bill Horne <telecomdigestsubmissions@remove-this.telecom-digest.org> Subject: Very important safety message for RV Travel readers By Kim Christiansen, IT security specialist We've been tackling hackers who have targeted a few of our readers who use Yahoo (and other) email by somehow placing fake "click here" messages in the email alerts we send to our readers. We've tracked these guys down (Panama) and they are well-known scammers. But our efforts to get rid of them have fallen short, mainly because they are sneaky and know how to bend the rules to their favor. https://www.rvtravel.com/a-warning-for-yahoo-email-users/ ------------------------------ Message-ID: <8a018993-33eb-4537-10e2-ed78de6354f1@gmail.com> Date: 30 May 2020 12:59:09 -0400 From: Bill Horne <telecomdigestsubmissions@remove-this.telecom-digest.org> Subject: Cell Tower Wars Continue A second wave of activists protest 5G cell towers in Bend; cite studies of alarming health risks. BY Laurel Brauns Last fall, a group of parents and kids fromElk Meadow Elementary School stormed Bend City Hall for weeks, demanding the City stop Verizon Wireless from building a cell tower next to the school. Verizon built the tower anyway, and Bend City Council said cell tower infrastructure is under federal jurisdiction, so there's not much it can do. Now, a new group of Bend activists want to ban 5G cell towers altogether. They've written nearly 100 letters to the City Council, and this week, they plan to blanket the town with posters and fliers touting the what they say are the dangers of this new technology. https://www.bendsource.com/bend/cell-tower-wars-continued/Content?oid=12578714 Bill Horne ------------------------------ ********************************************* End of telecom Digest Sun, 31 May 2020
