You're not alone By Carianne Luter JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Thousands of people have reported getting spam calls from an unknown number that appears to be coming from France, Russia or another foreign country. According to WJXT, these "foreign" calls seem to be targeting AT&T, Cricket Wireless, T-Mobile and Verizon customers. https://www.local10.com/consumer/get-a-missed-call-from-france-you-re-not-alone -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly) ------------------------------ Message-ID: <20190408205618.GA29892@telecom.csail.mit.edu> Date: Mon, 8 Apr 2019 20:56:18 +0000 From: Bill Horne <bill@horneQRM.net> Subject: Northern District of Illinois Frames Opinion on ATDS using ACA Int'l v. FCC Court finds texting system from AT&T is not an autodialer based on plain language of Telephone Consumer Protection Act, TCPAWorld reports. A summary judgment case in the Northern District of Illinois Gadelhak v. AT&T Servs., No. 17-cv-01559 (March 29, 2019) shows "AT&T's texting system did not qualify as an ATDS because the system did not "store" telephone numbers "using a random or sequential number generator" as the numbers were dialed from a predetermined list," writes Petrina A. McDaniel, partner at Squire Patton Boggs in Atlanta, in an article for TCPAWorld . https://www.acainternational.org/news/blog-northern-district-of-illinois-frames-opinion-on-atds -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly) ------------------------------ Message-ID: <20190408205054.GA29860@telecom.csail.mit.edu> Date: Mon, 8 Apr 2019 20:50:54 +0000 From: Bill Horne <bill@horneQRM.net> Subject: Ericsson and AT&T give network slicing an open source boost The Linux Foundation's annual Open Networking Summit (ONS) has become of rising interest to the mobile and telco community as the open source organization has become increasingly focused on telecoms networks. There will be coverage of the highlights in next week's edition of Wireless Watch, but one development caught our eye even before the event started on Wednesday. This was a demonstration of network slicing, harnessing the capabilities of the open source ONAP (Open Network Automation Protocol) software, which handles the management and orchestration (MANO) of all the components in a virtualized network. https://rethinkresearch.biz/articles/ericsson-and-att-give-network-slicing-an-open-source-boost/ -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly) ------------------------------ ********************************************* End of telecom Digest Tue, 09 Apr 2019
