Now the FCC has to figure out how to ensure the coverage maps will be accurate as it prepares a $9 billion 5G fund. By Michael Kan An FCC investigation has found that T-Mobile, Verizon and US Cellular did overstate their 4G LTE coverage in rural areas across the country. https://www.pcmag.com/news/372363/fcc-finds-t-mobile-verizon-us-cellular-overstated-rural-co -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly) ------------------------------ Message-ID: <e80fb555-21d7-4c98-b564-ba926bac45bf@googlegroups.com> Date: 5 Dec 2019 12:52:21 -0800 From: HAncock4 <withheld@invalid.telecom-digest.org> Subject: History Xerox telecopier fax 1972 While Western Union offered facsimile transmissions for several decades, they required dedicated lines and special paper ("teledeltos"). By Jon Brodkin Verizon, T-Mobile, and US Cellular exaggerated their 4G coverage in official filings to the Federal Communications Commission, an FCC investigation found. But FCC officials confirmed that Chairman Ajit Pai does not plan to punish the three carriers in any way. Instead, the FCC intends to issue an enforcement advisory to the broader industry, reminding carriers "of the penalties associated with filings that violate federal law." https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2019/12/fcc-tries-to-bury-finding-that-verizon-and-t-mobile-exaggerated-4g-coverage/ ------------------------------ ********************************************* End of telecom Digest Sat, 07 Dec 2019
