The service problems had already been going on for a month when Isaac sent me his question. He said if the issue wasn't fixed soon he'd have to seek another service provider. https://kfoxtv.com/community/just-ask-john/when-will-cell-phone-service-return-to-normal-in-el-paso -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly) ------------------------------ Message-ID: <6aabb1eb-221d-4323-bef9-84b4e84455e3@googlegroups.com> Date: 11 Oct 2019 10:08:41 -0700 From: HAncock4 <withheld@invalid.telecom-digest.org> Subject: Your telephone manners While this article dates from 1951, the ideas are timeless and apply today for good telephone service (two pages). https://books.google.com/books?id=lg0TAAAAIAAJ&dq=pullman%20triplex&pg=RA7-PA30#v=onepage&q&f=false ------------------------------ Message-ID: <234DBF20-B432-46FC-AE99-262541CF7E51@roscom.com> Date: 11 Oct 2019 18:56:55 -0400 From: "Monty Solomon" <monty@roscom.com> Subject: How Photos of Your Kids Are Powering Surveillance Technology How Photos of Your Kids Are Powering Surveillance Technology Millions of Flickr images were sucked into a database called MegaFace. I tried to find out as much as I could about the outage. Here's the ghist of it: Per Twitter, 9:19 AM: "#UrgentNotice Sector Boston Command Center telephones are currently down. If you or someone you know is experiencing a maritime emergency, contact 911. Mariners may also use VHF channel 16. #SemperParatus #SAR" 12:56 I reached Public Affaris Specialist PA3 Ryan Noel, who is stationed in Boston, and he said "as of ... I'd say about 12:30 ... everyone is back up and running." I asked for details about the cause. Per Twitter, 13:20 EDT "Sector Boston Command Center telephones are back up and running." 15:25 PA3 Noel called, said problem was caused by a "maintenance update" done by "maintenance workers," and that the update was rolled back to restore service. I asked PA3 Noel to find out if the problem was in a PBX at the Coast Guard HQ in Boston, in equipment provided by the ILEC (Verizon), or in equipment provided by a CLEC. 15:35 PA3 Noel called, said the problem was in equipment at Atlantic Ave. in Boston, but no further details are available, and he emphasized that the CG phone lines are back in service and working normally.
