VA residents may have problems connecting to 911 system By Sam Jackson There is a technical issue that may be affecting connections to Rockbridge County's 911, system, the county has stated. According to a statement from the county, CenturyLink has advised that they have a 911 circuit issue and residents may not be able to connect to 911. https://www.wdbj7.com/content/news/Rockbridge-Co-residents-my-have-problems-connection-to-911-system-504705231.html -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly) ------------------------------ Message-ID: <20190122234600.GA11429@telecom.csail.mit.edu> Date: Tue, 22 Jan 2019 18:46:00 -0500 From: Bill Horne <bill@horneQRM.net> Subject: Don't be This Verizon Customer Whose Bill is $700 Because He Doesn't Know What a WiFi Toggle Is By Kellen The animation in the image at the top of this post is subtle, but most of you can probably see the difference. For those missing it, the difference is a toggle between WiFi and LTE. That minor icon change almost cost a Verizon customer an additional $700 on their bill. What's the story here? A Verizon customer took to reddit this week looking for help from the Big Red subreddit, which is filled with actual Verizon employees who regularly share useful insight into the company. The customer stopped by there looking for help because they had run into an issue that caused an excessive use of data over their 5GB data limit, jumping their bill to the $700 status I noted above. https://www.droid-life.com/2019/01/22/verizon-customer-700-bill-overages/ -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly) ------------------------------ Message-ID: <20190121071626.GA6758@telecom.csail.mit.edu> Date: Mon, 21 Jan 2019 02:16:26 -0500 From: Bill Horne <bill@horneQRM.net> Subject: List of United States mobile virtual network operators Mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs) in the United States lease wireless telephone and data service from major carriers such as AT&T Mobility, Sprint Corporation, T-Mobile US, and Verizon Wireless, as well as the regional carrier the United States Cellular Corporation for resale. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_mobile_virtual_network_operators -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly) ------------------------------ ********************************************* End of telecom Digest Wed, 23 Jan 2019
