By Aaron Boyd The Justice Department is the third federal agency to pick a vendor to help modernize all its telecommunications services, under a 15-year contract with AT&T worth almost $1 billion. The telecom giant announced the $984 million award Monday as part of the General Services Administration's $50 billion Enterprise Infrastructure Solutions, or EIS, contract. EIS is set to replace the current governmentwide telecom contract vehicles Networx and WITS-3, both of which will expire within the next three years. Agencies are expected to use that transition as an opportunity to fully modernize their communications infrastructure. https://www.nextgov.com/it-modernization/2019/07/justice-signs-nearly-1b-telecom-services-deal-t/158780/ -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly) ------------------------------ Message-ID: <ca8439c6-c558-49c4-b946-c385488e969a@googlegroups.com> Date: 29 Jul 2019 11:20:24 -0700 From: HAncock4 <withheld@invalid.telecom-digest.org> Subject: Re: Frontier often under fire for its services On Saturday, July 27, 2019 at 4:20:06 PM UTC-4, Bill Horne wrote: > By Fred Pace > > HUNTINGTON - In West Virginia, Frontier Communications has been > routinely under fire for its internet service and its landline phone > service, with dozens of formal complaints being lodged against the > company just in recent weeks. > > Currently, the company is being sued by at least 150 disgruntled > internet customers, it has been ordered to conduct an audit of its > operations by the West Virginia Public Service Commission and the > company has been on the radar of both state and federal officials over > alleged poor service. Could you imagine a modern day carrier assisting as describing in the following ad? (this is from Signal magazine. Very interesting ads and articles about the state of the art in 1953. Our engineers and technicians have identified the hardware issue and are working to resolve it as quickly as possible. Affected customers can still make and receive calls by enabling WiFi calling on their devices. Instructions on how to enable this free service can be found at ... https://www.verizonwireless.com/support/wifi-calling-faqs/ I asked Mr. Weissmann if this is an FCC-reportable outage, and how many customers are affected, and I'm waiting for his reply. -- Bill Horne Moderator ------------------------------ ********************************************* End of telecom Digest Wed, 31 Jul 2019
