(KOTA TV) - Nearly 70 Hill City residents living in Leisure Hills are struggling with cell service despite reaching out to the public utilities commission and CenturyLink. Deb Kulbel said about 40 homes, including hers, are struggling to get cell service for nearly a month. https://www.kotatv.com/content/news/Hill-City-residents-lose-phone-service-for-nearly-a-month-and-say-its-the-worst-513327211.html -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly) ------------------------------ Message-ID: <20190729133437.GA28298@telecom.csail.mit.edu> Date: Mon, 29 Jul 2019 13:34:37 +0000 From: Bill Horne <bill@horneQRM.net> Subject: Canonical scores major boost to 5G credentials with BT NFV deal By Caroline Gabriel AT&T will certainly not be the only telco considering whether and when to move its networks to a public cloud (see above). Whichever decision they make about the infrastructure itself, they will need to decide on their approach to the cloud infrastructure platform, and that will mean introducing new vendors into their supply chains. The traditional equipment suppliers are busily developing their cloud-native offerings and underlying infrastructure platforms, but there are plenty of new names joining the telco party too. Mirantis has scored at AT&T, Reliance Jio and other operators, while the UK's incumbent, BT, has given Canonical a big boost in the 5G game. https://rethinkresearch.biz/articles/canonical-scores-major-boost-to-5g-credentials-with-bt-nfv-deal/ -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly) ------------------------------ Message-ID: <20190729133221.GA28235@telecom.csail.mit.edu> Date: Mon, 29 Jul 2019 13:32:21 +0000 From: Bill Horne <bill@horneQRM.net> Subject: Google SVP Suggests Carriers Are Stalling RCS Rollout In The U.S. By Johan Moreno Frustrated with the lack of an "iMessage-style" messaging app on your Android phone? You may have to blame your carrier for that. On Twitter, a senior VP for platforms and ecosystems at Google, Hiroshi Lockheimer, said Google would love to work with their carrier partners on rolling out RCS messaging in the U.S. and they were "trying." Lockheimer also confirmed that RCS messaging is widely available in the U.K. and France, with support for more countries on the way. https://www.forbes.com/sites/johanmoreno/2019/07/29/google-svp-suggests-carriers-are-stalling-rcs-rollout-in-the-u-s/#1cbb627817e1 -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly) ------------------------------ ********************************************* End of telecom Digest Tue, 30 Jul 2019
