Originally from Minnesota, he said he used to sell internet and phone services along with his computer business, JMS Computer and Telecom. "In 2017, the higher-ups fired everybody from all of these phone companies that were running under the CenturyLink umbrella." Seel said. "So eventually I looked into this company, Talking Platforms, and they asked me to run the front end of their business and they would run the back end with all the servers and infrastructure." https://www.abqjournal.com/1335720/from-minn-to-n-m-business-owner-changes-with-times.html -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly) ------------------------------ Message-ID: <20190707040958.GA8458@telecom.csail.mit.edu> Date: Sun, 7 Jul 2019 04:09:58 +0000 From: Bill Horne <bill@horneQRM.net> Subject: Tacoma: Say goodbye to the "NW" in Gig Harbor street addresses. You can blame 911 By Jake Gregg Gig Harbor residents will have to get used to writing their street addresses without the familiar "NW." The city is lopping off the "Northwest" designator to avoid confusing the county's increasingly automated 911 system. https://www-1.thenewstribune.com/news/local/community/gateway/article232154557.html -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly) ------------------------------ Message-ID: <20190707035222.GA7980@telecom.csail.mit.edu> Date: Sun, 7 Jul 2019 03:52:22 +0000 From: Bill Horne <bill@horneQRM.net> Subject: 911 Outage Hits AT&T Wireless Customers Across US, Issue Fixed Now July 2, 2019 by Aman Jain Some AT&T users may not have had a very good morning today. Since early morning, there were reports of a nationwide 911 outage for users on the AT&T network, preventing them from calling emergency services. The issue was fixed a few hours later. Early in the morning, several local law enforcement agencies and fire departments revealed on social media that users were unable to call emergency services. The Tarrant County, Texas 911 District tweeted about the outage around 6:30 a.m. The 911 outage was reported by official agencies in Texas, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Washington and other states. https://www.valuewalk.com/2019/07/911-outage-hit-att-us-fixed/ -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly) ------------------------------ Message-ID: <19803B7B-1F12-4203-A37F-2B4F0570309E@roscom.com> Date: 9 Jul 2019 01:45:41 -0400 From: "Monty Solomon" <monty@roscom.com> Subject: [paywall] The New Rules of the Family Cellphone Plan There are work families and friend families. Now, many people also have cellphone-plan families. Due to greatly reduced costs, family cellphone plans have become increasingly popular among nonfamily groups - networks of friends, roommates, neighbors and even colleagues are connected by these arrangements. https://www.wsj.com/articles/the-new-rules-of-the-family-cellphone-plan-11562405400 ------------------------------ ********************************************* End of telecom Digest Wed, 10 Jul 2019
