GREENSBORO, N.C. - Ben and Eloise Morgan love spending time at their ranch style home in Greensboro. The home sits on a large piece of property surrounded by trees. The living room has a fireplace, comfortable recliner and a huge window, "We love looking out at all the trees and birds," said Eloise Morgan. The other nice part of the home is that's it's about a stone's throw from their son's home. Steve Morgan lives right behind his parent's down a dirt road, "It's nice to be so close so I can help them if needed," said Steve Morgan. https://www.wfmynews2.com/article/news/local/2-wants-to-know/bad-connection-greensboro-elderly-couple-gets-phone-working-again-after-call-to-wfmy-news-2/83-ab87d1ac-e577-4f90-a87d-815cc04d846f -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly) ------------------------------ Message-ID: <20190409204251.GA8476@telecom.csail.mit.edu> Date: Tue, 9 Apr 2019 20:42:51 +0000 From: Bill Horne <bill@horneQRM.net> Subject: FCC Refers Free Data Plan Concerns to FTC Tells senators FCC has never concluded they ran afoul of net neutrality By John Eggerton Talk to the Federal Trade Commission. That was FCC chair Ajit Pai's response to a trio of Democratic House members seeking an FCC investigation into wireless providers free data plans. In a letter to Sens. Ed Markey (D-Mass.), Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) and Ron Wyden (D-Ore.), Pai said that they appeared to be referring to "the free-data programs that certain wireless providers offer - often with respect to smartphone-quality video services - that have been available since T-Mobile launched its Binge On service in 2015," which the senators referenced by reference to an article about that service. https://www.broadcastingcable.com/news/fcc-refers-free-data-plan-concerns-to-ftc -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly) ------------------------------ Message-ID: <20190409210118.GA8629@telecom.csail.mit.edu> Date: Tue, 9 Apr 2019 21:01:18 +0000 From: Bill Horne <bill@horneQRM.net> Subject: Net neutrality battle heats up on Capitol Hill: What you need to know Democrats want to bring back the Obama-era rules via the Save the Internet Act. Republicans say not so fast. By Marguerite Reardon Democrats on Capitol Hill are pushing hard to restore Obama-era net neutrality protections. More than a year after the Republican-led Federal Communications Commission voted to repeal the popular 2015 rules, lawmakers in Washington are duking it out to get protections in place. Democrats in the House will vote as soon as Tuesday on the Save the Internet Act, which would reinstate the regulation, which lasted from 2015 to 2018. https://www.cnet.com/news/net-neutrality-battle-heats-up-on-capitol-hill-what-you-need-to-know/ -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly) ------------------------------ ********************************************* End of telecom Digest Wed, 10 Apr 2019
