I'm glad someone commented on the political agenda this list seems to have taken on. Likewise I've been on here for decades. Thinking back even longer I think about what a political hot potato the Bell System Divestiture was with plenty of opinions to go around. At the time most people that discussed telecom and later the internet on bulletin boards and lists such as this stuck to the pragmatic facts of what was happening and how it was coming down. Trump is Trump. I can get political opinions everywhere and anywhere. A list like this probably should just stick to telecom deregulation and open internet newsworthy items without tilt and opinion in one direction or the other. Just the facts m'am, just the facts. ***** Moderator's Note ***** Full disclosure: I just retired, and starting collecting Social Security benefits. I also have a small pension from the Management Pension Fund of Verizon. However, my Non-management fund of over $300,000.00 was stolen by a company called "IDEARC" while I was clinically depressed and unable to manage my affairs. The thought that a civil servant could be denied what might be his only retirement option - for the alleged offense of "Lack of candor" - is Orwellian at best and Machiavellian at worst. This is, in other words, either an effort by the conspriator-in-chief to convince the (mid-term) voters that ignorance is strength and freedom is slavery, or a barely veiled effort to extort perjurious testimony from Mr. McCabe in order to further cloud the Special Council's efforts to find out if Donald Trump was elected with unlawful help from Russia. If this list has "taken on" a "political agenda," I'm not aware of it. I don't knowingly lie or misrepresent the truth, and I don't "spin" the articles I accept for publication to try to make them seem like something they are not. If I comment on something, my remarks are clearly separated from the original article, and clearly marked as being from me. I know many manufacturers have stopped production. I am looking for those that [are] still shipping. Thank you. Victor ***** Moderator's Note ***** I'm not sure if G.703/4 were ever used outside the "V.35" interface, so I'm not sure what you're asking, but I'll publish this in hopes that someone else can help you. In the event of a power outage, here are some quick tips to get you back up and running once your power is restored.

Moderator Note: the following URL's have been modified so that they will open in a separate window or tab, since Verizon's coders have chosen to loop your "Back" button. When you've seen the Verizon site they point to, you can just close the window/tab that was opened.

  1. To fix most issues, unplug your Verizon equipment, and plug it back in.
  2. Didn't work? You may have to reset your Optical Network Terminal (ONT)
by following these instructions to Reset your ONT
  3. Still no luck? Access the My Fios app via a mobile device or visit verizon.com/outage for answers to common questions or to
    submit a repair request.
Stay warm and safe. +--------------------------------------------------------------+ [Moderator snip] -- Chuck ====================== Charles L. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TL;DR Now, at the risk of being pedantic, I'll ask how Verizon's customers are supposed to access online instructions on how to reset their Optical Network Terminal. Does Verizon assume that everyone with FiOS service will also be equipped with a fully charged cellular phone that has a data plan, a browser, an email application which is set up for access to their email server, and a screen that can be read in bright light? By Jon Brodkin Federal judges have struck down an anti-robocall rule, saying that the Federal Communications Commission improperly treated every American who owns a smartphone as a potential robocaller. The FCC won't be appealing the court decision, as Chairman Ajit Pai opposed the rule changes when they were implemented by the commission's then-Democratic majority in 2015. Pai issued a statement praising the judges for the decision Friday, calling the now-vacated rule "yet another example of the prior FCC's disregard for the law and regulatory overreach." https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2018/03/ajit-pai-celebrates-after-court-strikes-down-obama-era-robocall-rule/ ------------------------------ ********************************************* End of telecom Digest Wed, 21 Mar 2018
