The gathering will inform customers about the work being done on their behalf by the Office of Consumer Advocate (OCA) and allow representatives from that agency to gather feedback as the case moves forward. The OCA is hoping to negotiate a settlement that will see CenturyLink upgrade the reliability of its service in return for relief from government oversight. http://sundancetimes.com/advocate-intervenes-in-centurylink-case/ -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly) ------------------------------ Message-ID: <20180124174735.GA9202@telecom.csail.mit.edu> Date: Wed, 24 Jan 2018 12:47:35 -0500 From: Bill Horne <bill@horneQRM.net> Subject: Lawmakers hope for rural broadband solution in 2018 Coram sponsoring bill to direct money to service providers By Marianne Goodland As originally reported by Colorado Politics This week, the Colorado Senate will begin reviewing a bill that state Sen. Don Coram of Montrose hopes will solve the years-long debate about how to ensure broadband reaches the rural areas of Colorado, or at least how to pay for it. Coram is one of two primary sponsors of Senate Bill 2, which directs the dollars from a telecommunications fund, around $37 million, to providers who can help wire rural Colorado for high-speed broadband. https://the-journal.com/articles/81808 -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly) ------------------------------ ********************************************* End of telecom Digest Thu, 25 Jan 2018
