Kirby and Joan Stewart The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has adopted a Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking seeking comment on whether to expand its audio description mandate to television stations in all Nielsen Designated Market Areas (DMAs) by 2035. Audio description benefits persons who are blind or visually impaired by inserting narration for non-dialogue scenes during natural pauses in a program's dialogue. Under the Twenty-First Century Communications and Video Accessibility Act of 2010, the mandate applied to stations in the top 60 DMAs. The FCC extended that mandate to 40 more markets in 2020, adding 10 markets per year through 2024. https://www.mondaq.com/article/news/1300984?q=1803232&n=750&tp=9&tlk=4&lk=41 -- (Please remove QRM for direct replies

Greenbaum Last week, the Federal Communications Commission announced that Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel introduced a proposal that would require all cable operators and direct broadcast satellite providers to specify the "all-in" price clearly and prominently in their promotional materials (and on subscribers' bills as well). If the proposal is adopted, this means that, when advertising a price, cable and satellite providers will be required to state the total price that consumers are obligated to pay, including any additional fees charged. The proposal aims to eliminate the practice where a provider describes additional fees as an excluded "tax, fee, or surcharge." https://www.mondaq.com/article/news/1301306?q=1803232&n=750&tp=9&tlk=5&lk=42 -- (Please remove QRM for direct replies)
