UOKiK said on Monday that T-Mobile Polska's slogan “1200 GB free for a year” was misleading as 100 GB Internet packages are granted each month, for a maximum of 12 months, as long as the consumer renews the offer periodically at a cost of at least 35 zlotys ($7.99). https://www.reuters.com/business/media-telecom/polish-regulator-accuses-t-mobile-misleading-advertising-2023-01-02/ -- (Please remove QRM for direct replies)

I publish posts about 911 outages for two reasons:
  1. I used to be in charge of the E911 network in New England, and I still feel a responsibility to publicize failures.
  2. There are serious weaknesses in the E911 system's security, and I have not seen or heard of any effort to reduce or eliminate them.

Many documents have been filed under seal. A federal appeals court referred to the central entities only as “company” and “law firm.” In the U.S. Supreme Court, redacted copies of briefs reveal that that “law firm” is one specializing in international tax law, and the owner of “company” is an “early promoter of bitcoin” who “expatriated from the United States in 2014.” https://www.abajournal.com/web/article/supreme-court-to-consider-huge-attorney-client-privilege-case
Moderator's Note

It might seem, on first glance, that this isn’t related to telecommunications.

However, law-enforcement at all levels of government - and some private investigators - have access to “pen-recorder” data which shows what numbers I have dialed on my home phone. If a policeman thinks I’ve committed a crime, (s)he will look at my recent phone calls, and if one of them was made to an attorney, (s)he might decide that fact is sufficient to justify devoting resources to the case which would not otherwise be available.

We’ve all heard the adage “Be careful what you wish for.” We all might wish for more effective and timely law enforcement - but it’s important to consider the costs of getting our wish fulfilled.
