Subject: Verizon advisors slam AT&T’s influence over
FirstNet investments
By Linda Hardesty
Five members of Verizon’s First Responder Advisory Council are calling
attention to a report that is critical of FirstNet’s relationship with
AT&T in terms of billions of dollars in investments.
The report, which was published in November 2022, was based on the
findings of auditors at the office of the Inspector General at the U.S.
Department of Commerce.
FirstNet is owned by the FirstNet Authority. But AT&T is the primary
contractor, deploying and managing the network.

If you want the automatic payment discount on your T-Mobile bill, be
prepared to use a debit card or bank account.
By Eli Blumenthal
T-Mobile is updating its automatic payment (or AutoPay) rules, including
dropping the ability for credit card users to gain the AutoPay discount
on its plans. The carrier confirmed to CNET on Thursday that starting
"as early as May" it will be limiting these discounts just to those who
pay with a debit card or bank account.

Subject: Verizon customers on Southeast Alaska’s largest island
have been without cell service for weeks
By Raegan Miller
Prince of Wales Island residents have been left confused after their
Verizon cell phones stopped working.
Cell service has long been spotty on Southeast Alaska’s largest island.
But Verizon service has been out for more than three weeks. And that’s
unusual.
So what happened? Public radio station KRBD in Ketchikan looked into it.
