Such an attack would also take out the broadcast infrastructure, which
is a lot more physically concentrated and easier to disrupt.

Subject: Hedge Fund Takeover of Local News Fails Thanks to CWA
Efforts
In a major victory for journalists and media workers, local news
broadcaster TEGNA terminated its proposed sale to hedge fund Standard
General after funding for the deal expired.
“The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) stood up for media
workers by scrutinizing a hedge fund’s attempt to take over and
destroy more local news in the U.S.,” said CWA President Chris
Shelton. “CWA thanks FCC Chair Jessica Rosenworcel and her staff for
finally doing what we have asked regulators to do for decades: protect
American jobs and hold Wall Street firms accountable.”

Garrett,
Please answer some questions for me: If they surprise you, it's
because I was never part of the "mobile" arm at Verizon, so I'm
sometimes at sea when considering your posts on cellular issues.
1. In what way is the broadcast infrastructure "more physically
concentrated?" Although cell towers may be more widely distributed
than broadcast antennas, they must route calls through a network of
tandems and central offices which haven't moved much in 50 years.
2. Are you arguing that cellular phones have become ubiquitous, and,
therefor, area more reliable alert devices than the AM radios in
cars?
3. The "broadcast infrastructure" is already separate from the
Internet: most of the signals sent to broadcast stations, AFAIK,
come from Geostationary satellites, and not terrestrial
circuits. Has that changed?
4. If we're talking about whether the buyers of electric vehicles
should be forced to pay extra to allow AM radios to function, what
difference does the presence or absence of an AM radio make in the
case of a such a small percentage of vehicles?

Subject: Union Win Delayed As eBay & TCGPlayer Appeal Vote, Refuse
To Bargain
By Liz Morton
Despite winning their union vote on March 10 2023, TCGPlayer workers
are still fighting for their first contract as eBay and TCG leadership
continue to delay coming to the bargaining table.
Immediately after the successful vote, TCGPlayer management refused to
accept the decision - first issuing a statement saying they were
"disappointed" in the outcome, then allegedly retaliating by firing at
least one pro-union employee and filing multiple objections with the
National Labor Relations Board.
