Subject: FCC blocks robocall middleman One Eye from future campaigns
By Will Shanklin
May 11, 2023 5:15 PM
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) today ordered voice
service providers to block the global gateway provider One Eye. The
FCC says the company, which serves as an “on-ramp” to US phone
networks from outside the country, enabled robocall scams like
impersonating a major financial institution and calls about bogus
“preauthorized orders” placed in consumers’ names. The Biden
administration’s FCC has focused on increasing its ability to enforce
robocalls. “This company — what’s left of it — will now have a place
in robocall history,” said FCC Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel. “We can
and will continue to shut off providers that help scammers.”

Subject: AT&T restores service to fiber internet customers in East
Lake but offers few details about outage
By Dan Whisenhunt
Atlanta, GA — When East Lake resident Aaron Sheinin contacted
Decaturish asking for help publicizing an AT&T Fiber outage, he’d been
without internet for three days.
“AT&T refuses to say what is happening or how long it will be out,” he
said on May 11.

Subject: AT&T consolidates footprint as it implements new return-to-
office mandate
By Ted Andersen
AT&T is reducing its office footprint and requiring managers to show
up in person at least three days a week, a move that could spur some
workers to quit, CEO John Stankey said. The telecommunications
company, which has operations in all 50 states, will consolidate into
nine core offices — including in San Ramon's Bishop Ranch — with two
main hubs in Dallas and Atlanta. The return-to-office mandate will be
implemented everywhere by Sept. 4 and will apply to more than 60,000
managers.
