Quantela is focused on cities and utilities in the US, it said, particularly in the smart street-lighting space. The firm said the partnership will enable a more competitive IoT offering in the U.S. market. Quantela’s NB-IoT street light controllers will be connected to T-Mobile’s NB-IoT network in the US. Its management platform offers reduced capital and maintenance costs for street lighting networks, it reckons, via lower energy consumption and truck-rolls, as well as greater network security and coverage versus non-smart LED lights. https://enterpriseiotinsights.com/20230103/smart-cities/t-mobile-us-inks-iot-collaboration-quantela

By Emma Roth A new rule allowing the Federal Communications Commission to regulate the rates of prison phone calls is one step closer to becoming law. After it passed through Congress last week, the Martha Wright-Reed Just and Reasonable Communications Act of 2022 now awaits President Joe Biden’s signature. The prison phone call industry has been broken for decades, with telecommunications companies, like Global Tel Link and Pay Tel Communications, charging unfair fees for phone and video calls from inmates. These fees vary by state, but they involve the phone provider offering kickbacks to prisons and local governments using the money they collect from the friends and families of incarcerated people. The result is a $1.4 billion industry built on fees that dispropor- tionately affect women and people of color. https://www.theverge.com/2022/12/27/23527757/fcc-prison-phone-call-fees-martha-wright-reed-act-biden

According to the info at a page called "Case Study: T-Mobile US Goes IPv6-only Using 464XLAT" - https://www.internetsociety.org/resources/deploy360/2014/case-study-t-mobile-us-goes-ipv6-only-using-464xlat/ ... I think T-Mobile has gone IPv6-only. If anyone can confirm or deny, please do so. Bill Horne -- (Please remove QRM for direct replies)
